Edited July 2023: Kids World Adventure Playland previously Chipmunks Playland and Cafe
I don’t know about you but when its pouring with rain I get this feeling that it’s going to be the longest day at home with the kids. So when we were forecasted with intense rain & thunderstorms for few days and I thought why not check out the local Indoor Play Centre.
Play Centre at Sippy Downs
Kids World at Sippy Downs is a massive, light-filled space with 3 different zones depending on your age.
When I visited I got chatting with the owner Stacey & she said that the space was created in conjunction with local families including kids with special needs. She had wanted to create an inclusive & safe space for them & all visiting families.
The Sunshine Coast from my experience is great at being inclusive for kids with special needs however when a business owner tells you that personally, I just think that’s amazing.
Indoor Playcentre
Kids World caters to children from 0-to 11 years and has multiple zones for different age groups. This dedicated indoor Playcentre has both hard and soft play and has 3 different sections catering to different ages. There is the baby zone (0-to 2 years), toddler zone (0-to 5 years), and the main zone (from 5-to 11 years).
The main zone is multi-leveled, so organize to meet some friends, send in the kids, sit back with a cuppa from the cafe, and enjoy. Another drawcard for Chipmunks is the huge inflatable slide. This slide is no joke, the kids pick up some speed which is why they were so obsessed with it – it kept them entertained for hours.
Remember to also bring socks or buy some at the entrance.
Baby & Toddler Zone
This section of Kids World is catered to the little ones that need everything a bit smaller and is more suitable for children under 5 years old. This area is fenced and helps contain the little ones in case you have runners. The slides are smaller, the playground is easier to climb & it caters towards the younger demographic.
There is plenty to see & do for them at eye level, including sensory activities, activities that help with hand-eye coordination, gross motor skills, and the chance to socialize and interact with other kids. As I mentioned earlier there is an elevated cubby house with a little ladder and some soft play equipment on the ground. This area isn’t fenced but is still perfect for the younger kids and there is plenty of seating available around to watch your kids.
Over 5 years old
This area is Oh so Fun! This multi-level play zone is honestly ridiculous. From climbing through a maze of different pathways, shooting softballs through the ball launcher to picking up speed down the slide this playground will keep the older ones busy for hours. There is also a ball-pit & trampolines underneath the playground and then take your pick at which way you want to enter & climb up into the playground.
Super Slide
Hold on for dear life, this slide honestly makes my stomach drop! But the kids are addicted to the thrill & speed of the drop. This huge inflatable slide is for kids that can climb well as there is only one way up. This slide for me is something I would return for as my kids haven’t stopped talking about it, and they loved going down together & racing to the bottom.
Cafe
Choose between the B.L.T or the Salmon Bruschetta and let the kids pick their own kids meal from the menu. This cafe has all the goods and personally I love when I can get more then a bowl of chips when I’m hanging out watching my kids play. There is coffee, tea or smoothies and plenty more options.
