If you have babies, toddlers, or teenagers these waterfalls are for you. These waterfalls provide options for all of the family, from the smallest pools of water to rocks a few meters for diving if that’s your jam.
Gardner Falls – It is a long walk to the falls?
With younger children, this is usually what is asked first before you head out exploring waterfalls and I can tell you that it’s the simplest walk to a waterfall you will ever do in your life. If you don’t get a park at the bottom of Obi Lane and you park up the hill that will probably be harder than actually getting to the falls.
The day we went was a sunny & hot day in February, there were prams, and kids, older adults too. A very diverse range of people who were able to access the falls.
The walkway is dirt though so please note that after rain this track will likely turn to mud so taking prams or people less able might not be advisable.
Can you swim at the Gardner Waterfalls?
Yes-absolutely you can swim at Gardner Falls. Take your pick. For families with smaller children who cannot swim yet, swimming further upstream before the big waterfall is advisable, it is not as deep and more manageable.
For families with stronger swimmers, be sure to check out the main waterfall. Plenty of people jump off the rocks, use the ropes to swing into the water. The water is deeper and a bit colder so ensure your kids are confident before letting them swim or jump in this area.
Also, there are warning signs around saying beware of broken glass. Use caution in the water.
Facilities & parking at Gardner Falls?
There are picnic tables & toilets at the Falls. We went on a weekend and it was so busy so no chance of us getting a table. We took a picnic blanket instead, and some chips & dips.
There is parking at the Falls at the very end of Obi Lane. If that is full you start driving back up Obi Lane and find a space on the roadside. Obi Lane is steeper so if you cannot find a park down the bottom and if you have 2 adults, let one get out with the kids and bags while the other parks. With having a 2 & 4 year old, I prefer not having to drag them up & downhills when I don’t have to. Let’s face it, we were coming for a relaxing day.
Can you take dogs to Gardner Falls?
Unfortunately no, as the falls are in a National Park our furry friends are not allowed to explore this part of the coast with us.
